Dreaming of New Stainless Steel Home Essentials

We all have our dreams and one of mine is to replace most everything in my home. lol Is that wrong? I'm 40 and I'm living in a starter home that's going on 12 years now. We thought we'd be here for 2 years, so when we built we went with builder grade materials 90% of the way. The other 10% were only slight upgrades... nothing durable in this house.

Not only is the house a starter home, but most of what is in it comes from the apartments of two college kids... that being my husband and I. We each had our own apartment when we met, so we had most everything you might imagine needing, but college kid nice... not grown up and we have jobs nice.

I think it's about time for this hard working wife and mom to have some nice things in her home that she can feel good using and even cleaning.

I love the look of Blomus stainless steel products. In the bathroom I'd love to have a new soap dish, toilet paper holder and wall mounted mirror. The bathroom fixtures would look awesome in a polished stainless steal too!

I'd like a  blomus kitchen too! I'd love to have this blomus multi-storage unit. It holds paper towels, plastic wrap and wax paper... or foil. How handy that would be!

We could also use blomus fireplace tools. We've never used our fireplace, but I'd like to think we could if we wanted to! lol Maybe getting the right tools would motivate my husband? lol

Satellite Television Services

We're always looking for a deal on the services we use everyday. Thanks to a little healthy competition in a free market society, we can and do all benefit from businesses seeking customer satisfaction. Saving on satellite television is one of many areas where cutting your expenses doesn't have to be a challenge.

I've never tried direct tv , but I do on occasion check out their specials. We recently cut back on our services with our current provider, taking our number of channels down to around 30. I miss a few of my old favorites, so of course I keep my eyes open for a deal! Check out the satellite channel guide for Direct TV at www.dx3.net to see if your must haves are available!

Additionally, if you're a football fanatic, be sure to learn more about the NFL Sunday Ticket exclusively from dx3 direct tv. This feature is what sold my dad on Direct TV awhile back. Regardless of where you live, you'll enjoy every out of market game in HD. Just don't forget to take a break from all those games on Sunday to spend some quality time with your family... otherwise you'll get yourself into trouble! lol

Direct TV is currently offering a special for new customers that's pretty appealing. Only $29.99 a month for the first year with 140 channels and free upgrades like an HD DVR. They're also throwing in free movie channels for 3 months... not something we're all that into, but I know most families are!

This special requires a 2 year contract, but it looks like the second year of that contract also comes at a discount over their regular pricing structure. Fairly significant discount too. Be sure to check it out and let me know what you think!

Walmart's Fighting Hunger Together Initiative

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Walmart Foundation for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Inbox (16 messages, 1 unread).jpgMost of us think of far away places when we imagine people going to bed hungry. It's hard to believe, but nearly 50 million American's don't know where their next meal will come from. The high unemployment rates have left so many families to rely on the kindness of others, but food banks generally see a decline in donations this time of year.

Walmart, along with ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft, and Kellog's hope to provide 43 million meals to families in need this spring! You can help decide where those meals go, by voting on the community you'd most like to see aided. Between April 9th and April 30th Vote to fight spring hunger with Walmart during a very special Facebook campaign! How will you know who to vote for? Check out the Department of Labor's statistics to learn just how hard the top 200 struggling communities have been hit by our struggling economy. Perhaps it's your own community that needs assistance? Maybe it's a city where you have family, have once lived, or have a special connection with. I'll be voting for a particular area in Florida where my family has spent a great deal of time over the years.

How will your vote help? The top 21 communities in need as determined by fan's votes will be given a total of $2 million to offset the cost of feeding their hungry! That's a lot of meals folks! Be sure to share this initiative with your family and friends by posting it on your own Facebook wall, shooting out emails and sending out tweets! Together we can make a tremendous difference.

Additionally, you can help support the cause and bring families in need a hot meal by purchasing specially marked foods from ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellog's between April 9th and 30th. Read the signage in store and the packaging on these fine brands to learn more about how your purchase can help feed hungry Americans.

Laptop Batteries... Why Do Some Last Longer Than Others?

I'm in my car at the moment, parked outside a grocery store in the rain, typing on my blog! lol Isn't modern day technology weird? Or, perhaps I am. I was headed out to a women's group I belong to only to find out it had been cancelled for Easter weekend. So, rather than go back home to a noisy house filled with the barking of a sweet, but overly hyper puppy and the goings on of family life with kids, I opted to take a little morning break from home life and come visit with you all!

My only frustration? My battery is low! I might actually have to go inside and plug my laptop in at a Panera or Starbucks if I plan on working in my car much longer. I don't know if my battery needs to be replaced, or if this computer's battery just doesn't hold a charge.

My kids have Dell computers, and I know my son's  Dell Laptop Battery seems to last longer than mine. His computer is newer... perhaps that's a factor? What I've noticed is that even if his computer isn't in use, if it's unplugged, the battery seems to hold it's charge, while mine doesn't. I don't know a thing about laptop batteries, but thought that was interesting. Interesting and frustrating! If only I'd grabbed his laptop instead of my own! lol

I am actually online looking at laptop batteries at batteryheads.com while I'm visiting with you all. Wondering if I should try ordering a new battery for my 18 month old laptop. Or, perhaps I need to research batteries and see what makes for a long lasting charge, and what does not.
